Women's Power

It’s not a secret the in the past women had unequal rights compared to men. It was a different time – one in which women were not allowed to vote, own property, or make decisions about their own lives. We were expected to be subservient to men and were often denied basic rights. These inequalities extended to all areas of life, including education, employment, and even clothing. Women’s clothing was often seen as a way to control their behavior, with restrictive corsets and long skirts that inhibited movement.

Today, things have changed drastically. Women now have the right to vote, own property, and make decisions about their lives. They can pursue education and employment opportunities, and their clothing choices are no longer dictated by societal norms. Women are now free to express themselves through clothing, and many have taken full advantage of this freedom.

Great examples of such an advantage of this freedom are independent fashion designers and independent business women. At Sheron Designs, I am happy to be free and create clothing collections for women that are both stylish and comfortable.

I believe that clothing should not be used to control women’s behavior, but instead should be used to express their individuality. I am inspired by my own experiences and those of other women and girls. We are made to empower women and to give them the freedom to express themselves through their clothing.

All women independent businesses, not just the clothing brands, are a testament to the progress made in women’s rights over the past century. While there is still a ways to go in terms of achieving true gender equality, our work is a reminder that women are now free to make their own choices when it comes to clothing and to express themselves through their clothing in a way that was not possible in the past.
